WARNING: Contains spoilers for The Winds of Winter
This is a dramatic reading of Ser Barristan Selmy’s speech before the Battle of Meereen. It is taken from Barristan’s first sample chapter in The Winds of Winter (book 6 of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire saga).
NOTE: During the speech, Barristan gets cut off after he says “time enough to make their spear wall.” So I added the final line about the “red dawn/dragon dawn” (though it does play off something Tyrion says in his sample chapter).
Nicely done Duncan,
Not quite equal to Mel Gibson’s Braveheart battle speech with all the piss and shit references but close 🙂

Hehe. If anything, that makes it even better
Also: Yay, first comment! Thanks Vik.
This was excellent. I’m more hyped than ever for The Winds of Winter now, The Others take you Valkyrist for stoking the fires of my enthusiasm while the long night progresses ever onward!
Also Vik, I love that your icon is Fizz.
Er Ziggs. I always confuse those two. >_>
Woo, more comments! Thanks Zach. I recorded this for a laugh, and it’s already got like 800 views on YouTube 😕
This is brilliant! I think you should do an audiobook of the Barristan chapters 🙂
Thanks Bina! That sounds like fun.
